Many churches have a renewed interest in reading Scripture publicly within their worship services. As the quantity of Scripture has increased, the quality often has not. In this session, we will consider a simple yet effective method for training Scripture readers.

Scott Shepherd serves as Worship and Music Specialist with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. He is a graduate of Shorter University, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and holds a doctorate in Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies. Scott served in local worship ministry for 24 years, most recently as Associate Pastor of Music and Worship at First Baptist Church in Paris, Tennessee. Scott directs the Tennessee Men’s Chorale and Tennessee Ladies Chorus and has served as a clinician and conference leader at state, regional, and local events. He served recently on the adjunct faculty at Union University and leads worship regularly with his family, The Shepherd Family. Scott is married to his college sweetheart, Traci, and together they have four children: Jordan (18), Iris (15), Gideon (13), and Grace (10). They reside in Henry, Tennessee.
